Nutnfancy at SHOT Show: KEL-TEC

Uploaded: nutnfancy
About: KelTec does not ride on past accomplishments. They are always looking to what the market wants and coming up with innovative designs to fufill those needs. Case in point: the new .22 WMR semi-auto "PMR-30" pistol by KelTec is mind blowing. With an empty weight of just 13.6 oz, fiber optic sights, mini-red dot base provision, and a whopping 30 round magazine capacity (!) I predict it will be a runaway best seller at predicted street price of about $375 (2nd qtr 2010 avail, good luck!). In many ways this PMR-30 is an affordable alternative to the FN FiveSeven pistol and its eclectic and expensive 5.7x28mm ammo. It's 1230 fps muzzle velocity comes close to duplicating that load for a lot less money and widespread availability. Then there's the "RFB" is a semi-auto .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm) rifle accepting metric FN FAL magazines. It's a short bullpup design as shown to us by KelTec technician Matt Groom. It has several unique feature including out-the-front ejection of spent casings (which I don't super dig), reversible charging handle (big plus), chrome lined bore and chamber, short-stroke piston system that's adjustable, picatinny rail, and an overall 27" length. With its 18' it weighs 8.6 lbs which is on par with other 2010 .308 carbines but its bullpup configuration owns them in terms of compactness. KelTec says the RFB possesses a good trigger as well (unconfirmed). Also reviewed in this KelTec booth review by Nutnfancy is the KelTec folding D2 steel bayonet (maybe a brittle choice for this POU), the still-awesome SU-16C (highly recommended by me, see annotated review, other models discussed in vid), the outstanding SU-22 Tactical .22 rilfe, the 4 lb SUB-2000 carbine (with ultra cool quad rail shown), the proven P-3AT .380 (a .380 benchmark innovation), the P-11 9mm, P-32 .32 auto pistol, and the value and performance setting KelTec PF-9 (highly recommended by me, see annotated review). The SU-16C continues as a high value and reliable .223 carbine benchmark that sets the bar for lightweight and compactibility. The KelTec PF-9 does the same for thin form factor 9mm concealable pistols for licensed civilians and police officers. Few guns match its performance/value level. For such a small company, KelTec exercises tremendous influence on firearms design and more importantly sets standards of value that other makers struggle to match. Matt says they continue to have a hard time satisfying demands for pretty much all the guns and they continue to fly off the shelf. Once again we see that itmes (guns in this case) that possess innovative and useful design elements, LIGHT WEIGHT, durable construction, and reliability will strike a chord with smart buyers all over the world. Great job KelTec and thank you Mr. Groom for the visit. /////////////////// Music: http://www.archive.org/details/Torley_Wong_-_The_Final_Selection)

I took a moment to scan the current front page for any references to the Polish servers and could not find any. It is likely that KelTec is aware and has removed the code and is waiting for Google to rescan them. Hopefully their SysAdmins have identified the root cause and have resolved it to prevent any further issues. This is why having a well staffed IT department is critical for any company. It may seems like just a red line with no returns until your whole infrastructure grinds to a hault.

@nutnfancy According to Google's malware/phishing detection software keltecweaponsDOTcom has a history of positive results, specifically hosting embedded links to an external servers that is known to host malware (in this case the domains in question appear to be Polish) in their code. This happens after a malicious hacker takes over the webserver and injects the website code with their malicious code for the purpose of getting more traffic to their malware/ads/phishing schemes.

@XXNerdzillaXX I've gotten trojan warnings from their site as well.

why does this video say uploaded on 1/24/10...and not on your channel home page?

Most of the items and accessories are out of stock or have a rediculous backorder time. I have to say that is a really big turn off for me. I really wish they could get there supply squared away, I would love to purchase a sub-2000.

do a video on gun laws in different regions

Also, big props to Mr. Groom for keeping it real on some of the downsides of the RFB's use of metric FAL mags. Good ones have become rare and fairly expensive. It ain't 2002 anymore!

I really like that opening techno BGM by Torley Wong. Nice fit for many TNP videos.

@XXNerdzillaXX if your seein boobies and such then your on the wrong website...lol.

@XXNerdzillaXX same...just tried it. Norton blocked it thankfully

Yep confirmed attempted attack from the Kel tec website...Norton block it thankfully....geez wtf.

Good to hear that you possibly got your SD card working, thanks for the upload!

Now if Kel-Tec would just make the Sub2000 in .45 acp using the Glock 21 mags, that would be fantastic!!

Seriously, thanks for doing booth reviews. I know it's alot for you but it's great for us that can't make it out!

i'd be interested to see keltec make a single stack .45 conceal gun. bet it would be a winner

Great vid! ....but no mention of the KSG????

Dude, where's chad?

Behind the power curve! Dude It's so obvious your a pilot. We talkin' guns or slow flight?

For the first time (except Barrett LOL) I want everything in that booth and I actually think I could afford to.

His analysis is that the M4 is too wimpy to penetrate mud walls and the M14 is too big in urban situations where space is often a factor, especially when riding in vehicles. Because of its caliber the RFB also can do as a sniper weapon in a pinch. A really unique weapon. The fact that it poops brass from the front is another nice feature when in tight quarters and in squads. He had a few hot cases go down the back of his shirt collar.

I have had an RFB for about a year. I've had tos ship it back for one malfunction related to the spring welding. It was fixed and returned to me in two weeks at their expense. This weapon it is compact and just begs for a suppressor. It is pretty accurate, not as good as my bolt rifles, but comparable to my POF308 20" barrel. My son-in-law who is Airborne Assault for the army loves it. He wishes he could have had a weapon like the RFB when going house to house in Iraq.

wtf... weres the rmr 30?

@DonnyDeezNuts86 412am feb 3 2012...my avast caught it in time.
