@pathmage Watch some documentaries with Lucas when he talks about his early film-making, he makes it clear that he was into making "tone poems". Young Lucas understood exactly what he was capable of; that he was a visual guy. He has admitted what a bad writer he is and that he cannot work with actors. It's not mystery why so much of his work turns out badly. If he would just do what he's good at and let others do the rest, this wouldn't happen. Hence why Empire Strikes Back is the best.

Lucas fucked up EVERYTHING in the prequels, everyone knew what was going to happen and how it was supposed to happen, except Lucas. He even managed to fuck up pre-established things! Anakin was a great pilot, He knew he had a son and wanted him to become a jedi, he gave obi-wan his lightsabre, he must have know Owen Lars well, cause Owen wouldnt allow it - Yoda Instructed Obi-Wan, Leia remembered her mother etc. None of this happened, instead we got a tons of shit just crowbarred in.

@CyberPirate2008 George only directed a New Hope out of the OT. For the later two he just co-wrote the script. Not to mention that George had a lot of ideas that were really stupid and the very talented people he was working with had the guts to actually tell him to change them. Something that would never happen now that he's become some sort of industry legend.

@Hammyofdoom1 No I don't understand why. I tend to think "Hardcore" fans look at the originals through rose tinted glasses. Some act like 14yr olds who are just want more "cool stuff" in the movies, Like Seeing Darth Vader in Ep1. Sure, there are some things that could have been done better or changed but the exact same could be said for the originals. At the end of the day it's George's saga, We are just here along for the ride.
