If you break down the lyrics, he says things like "It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side" referencing the Spear of Destiny that the romans plunged into the side of christ during his crucifixion. He then says "Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed" indicating that he honestly believes that god is responsible for her stroke, and that he is angry and confused as to why she continues to remain devout.

@hmbergher actually there ARE some religious tendencies to this song, but it's more that he is pissed off that his mother clung so loyally to her christian faith despite her stroke. He is voicing his frustration in that he believes god/christ was the one responsible for it, yet his mother never gets angry at god and continues to be a devout christian. This song is about denouncing christ and him trying to get his mother to see that for all her faith, christ has still abandoned her.

@BBlovesl while maynard is an atheist, he did respect his mothers beliefs, and i believe in know way is he against religion, but he does want people to think for themselves instead of believing what people want them to believe.

@hmbergher I agree with you I never looked at it as evil either, I've went through the same thing with my mom, she had cancer off on for the first twenty six year's of her life then she got internal and external lupus, and copd, a few other thing's, and yet her faith never wavered, she always told me never question why crystal, and i've spent many night's crying trying to figure out why she can't catch a break. So yeah I agree with you
